PizzaExpress opens a 100% vegan location in London
One of the UK’s most popular Italian restaurant chains has opened a 100 percent plant-based location. It’s based in Aldwych on The Strand, and includes 5 meat- and dairy-free versions of the chain’s most popular pizzas, including the Vegan American Hot, the Vegan Ad Astra, and the Vegan Forza.
“Our new vegan menu is so wide-ranging and delicious that it deserves a pizzeria of its own – so that’s exactly what we did,” said PizzaExpress’ chief customer officer Shadi Halliwell. “Vegan PizzaExpress is our first restaurant that will serve our vegan menu exclusively and is a true showcase of these authentic flavors that we’ve been perfecting since 1965.”
Jay-Z Helps Vegan Cheese Startup Raise $3M
Jay-Z has invested in California-based vegan cheese brand Misha’s Kind Foods, adding it to his growing list of plant-based investments. He made the investment through his investment firm Marcy Venture Partners. The company will use the funds to further product development, expand its retail presence, and grow its staff.
NBA All-Star Chris Paul Brings Vegan Vending Machines to HBCU Campuses
Working to make vegan foods more accessible to underserved communities, NBA point guard Chris Paul has invested in Koia, a company that makes plant-based nutritional shakes that are low in sugar. And, in line with their joint mission, the duo will introduce Koia vending machines on ten HBCU campuses, starting with Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, where Paul is currently enrolled. Additional vending machines will be rolled out across the country next year.
KFC China just launched three varieties of Oatly vegan ice cream
Customers can order single-serve containers of Oatly’s popular Strawberry and Chocolate flavor ice creams at KFC China stores nationwide. A latte-flavored soft serve is also available, which incorporates a smooth Oatly-coffee blend in a rich, dark cone.
Jennifer Aniston Launches LolaVie, a Totally Vegan Hair Care Line
She’s launched her own vegan, cruelty-free haircare brand, called LolaVie. The actor took to Instagram to announce the launch and wrote: “We’re really proud to say it’s been made WITHOUT all the bad stuff… we’re paraben-free, silicone-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, gluten-free, vegan… and of course CRUELTY-FREE because we love our animals.”
